Per parlare di palazzi o edifici in generale si usa il sostantivo building: There are a lot of beautiful buildings in London, a Londra ci sono molti bei palazzi. Palace viene utilizzato solo in relazione a palazzi prestigiosi che hanno a che fare con la famiglia reale (l'aristocrazia ecc.), specialmente in nomi propri: Buckingham Palace.
